Green Cay off Jost Van Dyke is the epitome of
a pristine, tiny, uninhabited island sanctuary with a wrap-around sand
beach and lots of colorful coral heads.
Anchor
just off the beach in shallow water and wade in. After a refreshing
swim, relax and enjoy lunch in your cockpit. Food never tasted so good.
Explore the haunts of the real Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Chest Island, and “the Caves” - made famous by tales of Robert Louis Stevenson. Enjoy libations at the anchored pirate ship (AKA floating bar) “William B. Thornton” on Norman Island. You may wish to dive the world-famous wreck “MS Rhone” off Salt Island or snorkel the “Indians”.
The Baths at Virgin Gorda offer an unusual volcanic quirk of nature with “private” baths under monolithic granite boulders. Shafts of light play upon the water that washes in between the giant rocks which create a dramatic effect. Snorkel the walls and see large, colorful fish. Shell on the windward side of the island for most unusual corals and shells that wash ashore.
Jost Van Dyke is still a laid-back Island. Foxy will delight you with his wit and extemporaneous songs. Walk along the indigenous, thatched beach bars and restaurants for that real native flavor. You’ll drift asleep to softly syncopated sounds. The Wooden Boat Regatta is fun-filled and so is FOXY'S NEW YEAR’S Eve party attracting the famous and not so famous.
